Itinerary:

Day 1: Kumai Port – Tanjung Harapan Camp (L, D) The team will pick you up at the airport/hotel and proceed to Kumai Port to board the ship. From the port, the ship will navigate through the Sekonyer River. During the trip, you will see various types of flora and fauna along the river. Monkeys and other wildlife can be spotted perched on tree branches. Birds and long-tailed monkeys add to the beauty of our journey.

The first destination is Tanjung Harapan Camp for observing and feeding orangutans. The trekking distance is short, between 15-30 minutes. The journey continues along the river, offering a stunning view in the afternoon. In the evening, while having dinner, we will cross the river and stay at one of the designated spots where fireflies and other nocturnal animals can be seen.

Day 2: Camp Pondok Tanggui – Camp Leakey (B, L, D) In the morning, while enjoying breakfast with a Nusantara menu on the klotok ship, we continue our journey. The chef will prepare authentic culinary delights, with warm coffee and tea accompanying your morning.

At 09:00 AM, we arrive at Tanggui Camp to observe and feed the orangutans. Besides watching them, you will also receive educational insights about the topography and biodiversity of Tanjung Puting.

The journey then continues to Camp Leakey, a key milestone in the development of orangutan ecotourism in Indonesia. While at Camp Leakey, visitors must follow the rules and adhere to the instructions given by the guide and rangers for safety and comfort.

At Camp Leakey, we will visit the Visitor Information Center to learn about the camp’s history, first established by Prof. Dr. Biruté Galdikas. A 30-45 minute trek leads to the feeding station, where the feeding session starts at 14:00. Be sure to have your camera ready to capture every moment.

After the visit, we continue the journey along the Sekonyer River, enjoying the beautiful sunset accompanied by exotic wildlife. Dinner will be shared with the boat crew and guide, discussing the day’s experiences while listening to the sounds of crickets and other night creatures, making it a truly memorable journey.

Day 3: Return Journey – Kumai – Airport/Hotel (B) The morning begins with a warm cup of coffee or tea and breakfast. The schedule for the last day will follow your flight itinerary. If time permits, optional activities include planting trees at Pesalat Reforestation Camp or visiting Sungai Sekonyer Tourism Village for souvenir shopping.

The trip concludes with your transfer to the airport or hotel.
